An opening played between Ugra and Belarus

Today, on June 21 the Ugra Chess Federation and the FIDE Chess School of Belarus have signed an agreement on cooperation.

The document mentions the main directions of cooperation of these two chess organizations, their intentions to conduct joint tournaments as well as recommendations on exchanging methods of teaching chess and hosting international tournaments.

The President of the Ugra Chess Federation Vasily Filipenko has noted the importance of such international cooperation: “Our mission is the same. Popularization of chess in regions and countries cannot exist without partnership between chess federations and schools. The subject of this agreement is rather wide, it covers a lot of different activities and spheres”.

The Director of the FIDE Chess School of Belarus, the head of the Belarus Chess Federation Anastasia Sorokina has expressed her hopes for a long cooperation with Ugra: “This region is a center of chess events, in 2020 Khanty-Mansiysk will host the Chess Olympiad so, of course, we are very happy to have such partners. We are looking forward to sharing our experience. I am sure our cooperation will be fruitful”.

The agreement was signed during Round 5 of the World Team Championships held in the capital of Ugra on June 16-27.
